Position Summary: 

Environmental Dynamics International (EDI) is a global leader in aeration systems for wastewater treatment facilities. EDI is part of a Private Equity-backed platform of similar type businesses who together have taken on the mission of environmental accountability, strong growth, and EBITDA improvement.

This role is responsible for the accuracy and integrity of all financial information for the EDI business. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice-President of Operations and Finance, the Controller will have responsibility for general ledger accounting, credit, internal and external reporting, and working capital/cash management.

As a critical member of EDI leadership team, the Controller is responsible for driving the financial performance of EDI and ensuring that economic rigor is applied to the decision-making process. This includes efforts to improve working capital, improve cash flow, and drive continuous improvement in cost and productivity. This role is based in Columbia, MO.

Essential Job Duties

  • Maximize return on financial assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. Will manage the preparation of the entity’s business planning process, incorporating margin, productivity, cost and working capital targets
  • Develop and maintain accurate standard cost data for all products, working with both product teams and business management to review existing standards. This will pertain to purchased products and manufactured products with labor and overhead.
  • Develop necessary working capital polices and controls to ensure integrity of financial statements.
  • Facilitate cost reduction efforts in the organization where necessary, holding the plant management team responsible for delivering annual cost reductions and productivity improvements.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements/KPI reports for the entity in accordance with company policies and GAAP.
  • Proactively partner with management and direct team to ensure that all parties have a clear and accurate picture of the entity’s overall financial performance. This will include Monthly Financial Reviews.
  • Prepare monthly rolling forecasts and provide the leadership with insight and commentary for all major variances from both plan and prior forecast.
  • Ensure proper internal controls are in place to safeguard company assets.
  • Serve as the primary contact for internal and external auditors.
  • Compile and support detailed monthly reporting packages.
  • Participate with other team members in upgrading the ERP package
  • Oversee a 4-person Accounting staff. Position will define department objectives, mentor staff and train to achieve deliverables.
  • Responsible for preparation of monthly and quarterly borrowing base and covenants reporting to various financial institutions
  • Coordination with foreign intercompany entities
  • Proactively partner and maintain effective working team relationships with all support departments within the company that meet company core values

Technical and Functional Skills

  • Variance analysis skills.
  • Advanced Excel capabilities.
  • Experience with common ERP packages
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical skills supported by data.
  • An ability to think through issues as they arise, and a willingness to offer and debate suggestions.
  • Plant operations and costing knowledge preferred.
  • Sales Tax and exposure to VAT a plus but not required.
  • Foreign currency exposure a plus but not required.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or Business with a minimum of 7 years related experience at a Manager level or above.
  • Supervisory Experience
  • Financial Statement modeling and pro-forma analysis experience
  • Experience adhering to strict deadlines regarding monthly close cycles and reporting packages to ownership groups, including support and understanding of the results.
  • CPA and/or CMA preferred but not required
  • Construction Accounting and an International Customer Base a plus.

Diffuser Express Sales Manager

Reporting to the Aftermarket Sales Director, this Inside Sales position will support EDI sales personnel, EDI representatives, market partners, distributors and key accounts with their aeration system needs.  This position is available due to the impending retirement of the incumbent in December 2020. The DX Sales Manager’s function is to keep clients informed about available services, products, pricing, shipping information and new product updates.  Position also required direct customer interaction to promote the sale of diffuser system components through new-builds (buy/resell and OEM channels), plant upgrades, maintenance services and aftermarket programs.  

Responsibilities include the following:
  • • Development of procedures and processes required for order execution.
  • • Responsible for meeting sales targets via the development and management of various sales channels. These include, but are not limited to OEM accounts, distributors, aquaculture, pond management, competitor replacement parts, and “sister” company replacement and commodity parts.
  • • Develop part pricing and document within applicable pricing sheets, MRP and Salesforce.  Pricing will be developed for DX Catalog items, EDI system components, Nexom replacement parts, EOSI carbon additives, and other miscellaneous parts.
  • • Development and management of pricing programs, including quantity discounts, OEM pricing, distributor pricing, and representative pricing.
  • • Provide and enforce corporate pricing guidelines to Regional Sales Managers (domestic and international).
  • • Manage representative and market partner agreements and contracts as they relate to Diffuser Express.
  • • Manage Catalog Distributors to promote the sale of replacement and commodity parts for EDI and all applicable “sister” companies.
  • • Develop and manage project data storage.  Will be expected to learn and utilize Teams, SharePoint, Salesforce, Outlook, and Epicor 10. 
  • • Will interact and coordinate with other EDI Department personnel to ensure timely order execution, development/availability of product data sheets and product instruction manuals, and proper product stocking levels.
  • • Will manage leads generated through direct customer programs, Regional Sales Managers, Representatives, or other outside sales channels.

Minimum qualifications:

High School diploma/GED and minimum 3 years work experience in customer service, sales, or related field.  Excellent attention to detail, demonstrated computer proficiency with Microsoft Office products also required. College degree preferred. Knowledge of EDI parts and service offerings a plus.
