Charles E. Tharp, PE


Mr. Tharp founded EDI in 1975 and continues to provide guidance in corporate management activities, international marketing and sales. Mr. Tharp’s experience includes all phases of the design, construction, and operation of municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment plants. During his career, Mr. Tharp has authored numerous publications and obtained patents for products and systems used in the environmental field. Mr. Tharp’s formal educational achievements include a BS degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla and an MS degree in Environmental Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley.


Randy Chann


Mr. Chann joined EDI in 1987 and is responsible for technology development. Prior to EDI, Mr. Chann provided technical support to refining and production operations with the Corporate Environmental Engineering Group with BP America in Cleveland, Ohio. Mr. Chann’s formal educational achievements include a BS degree in Civil Engineering from Union College in Schenectady, New York, and an MBA degree from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio.


Fred McCabe



Mr. McCabe is a graduate of the University of Missouri - Columbia where he received a BS in Marketing and an MBA in Finance. Prior to joining EDI in 2003, Mr. McCabe was with the consulting firm of ILMS, LLC, and Director of Materials for the Power System Division of Hubbell. Mr. McCabe’s responsibilities include management of the Columbia, Missouri, operations including finance, MIS, contracts, sales, inside sales, project management, safety and production operations.


Glen K. Wylie


Mr. Wylie joined EDI in 2007 and directs EDI’s Aftermarket Division, which provides installation and maintenance services and Customer Services operations for equipment inspection and commissioning. Prior to joining EDI, Mr. Wylie held various financial and operational executive positions in a Fortune 500 company as well as startup ventures in high-tech and alternative energy industries. Mr. Wylie holds a BS degree from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.


Environmental Dynamics International (EDI) specializes in the research, development and application of advanced technology aeration and biological treatment solutions for municipal and industrial wastewater treatment. The company’s value solutions support new plant construction, existing facility upgrades and long term infrastructure demands. EDI supports a staff of qualified professionals and engineers to provide the highest level of value added service, technology development, process application and system design support. EDI is a full service organization and offers field services for equipment installation and maintenance with demonstrated success in over 6,000 installations in nearly 100 countries across all 7 continents.

Global Activities

The Corporate Office in Columbia, MO is the technology and manufacturing center for the organization. The facility supports the research and development, and engineering functions of the organization and features world-class test facilities for oxygen transfer, material performance, and product design. EDI serves the global market through direct sales and local independent partners. In addition to sales support from the corporate offices, EDI maintains international offices in Japan, China, India, Mexico, United Kingdom, Germany, and Singapore. The UK, China, and Singapore locations include warehousing and manufacturing to better support the needs of the surrounding region. For direct customer contact, EDI maintains an extensive network of representatives covering each major market to provide the highest level of support to our customers. The Diffuser Express® division offers a complete line of standard diffuser products for facility upgrades and replacement parts for all major brands. The goal of this division is to provide end users with direct access to the leading edge technologies being developed by EDI regardless of brand. Diffuser Express maintains a large inventory for quick shipment of most standard components. The EDI Aeration Works™ division provides factory qualified installation services for all brands of aeration equipment. Aeration Works experienced teams provide single source responsibility for installation, refurbishment, long-term preventative maintenance, and subcontracted supervisory services. 

Industry Excellence

EDI is recognized for excellence in exports and has received numerous awards including: State of Missouri “Small Business Exporter of the Year” Award in 2001, and US Dept. of Commerce President’s “E” Award for Excellence in 2002 followed by the “E-Star” Award in 2008. The E-Star Award has been granted to a select 300 companies since the inception of the program by President John F. Kennedy in 1961. EDI was also recognized on the Inc 5000 fastest growing privately held companies in the US for both 2008 & 2009, Environmental Business Journal Award winner for International Expansion in 2009, and SBA Top 100 Award recipient in 2011. EDI’s banking relationships support letters of credit and wire transfers. EDI works cooperatively with the US Department of Commerce, EX-IM Bank for export insurance, and several financing programs “to support our customers’ needs”.
